This week Jesus finally arrives on the scene to inaugurate his public ministry, and He does so by submitting to the sinner’s baptism under John. In a fascinating move, Jesus’ first act as King foreshadows His very last act as King on the Cross. Rather than taking His position above us, He who has no sin comes and takes His place among those who have no righteousness. Jesus coronates His Kingship by becoming Immanuel; God with us – in the very first act in His commission as King. And when Jesus comes out of the waters of baptism, all three members of the Trinity are present in opening up the Heavens to all who will see the Glory of God! Join us for a strikingly majestic passage this week in Matthew Chapter 3.
