Luke 23:34-43

///Luke 23:34-43

In a striking example of salvation by faith alone in Christ alone, Jesus promises the penitent thief hanging next Him – “Truly I say to you, today you shall be with me in Paradise.” Now what a shocker! He hadn’t been baptized, he hadn’t prayed more than once for all we know, he hadn’t given any money to Jerry’s kids or world missions or even taken his first communion… And according to the text this wasn’t exactly a guy you’d invite over for dinner; unless of course you wanted to part with some of your possessions. AND YET HERE HE IS, ushered into the glory of eternity by simply looking to Jesus by faith. Sort of a kick in the teeth to those of us who think we’re going to Heaven because we’re pretty good people. No one is too far from God. Get your Word on with us this week, where we unlock some profound treasures that often get overlooked in this remarkable text.
