In Pontius Pilate we have the ultimate object lesson in compromise. Now he was a bright and gifted and accomplished man who had reached the top of his profession in Rome, and yet because of compromise he would end up deposed and isolated and eventually take his own life. The tragedy here in chapter 23, is that Pilate had the Truth incarnate; he had pure beauty and excellence and glory and perfection WHERE? Standing literally right in front of his face… But he couldn’t see it. How many of us find ourselves in the same position? THE ALL SURPASSING TREASURE and beauty and excellence of the glory of Christ is ours to have, and yet we don’t see Him as we ought. Get your Word on with us this week, where we take off the glasses of our hearts, and ask the Lord to wipe away the fog and smear of compromise in our lives, that we might begin to see and be filled with the fullness of joy – that is right in front of us.
