The American Church is big on glam and glitter and bright lights and notoriety, and man we’re just trying to be so cool. But this is not what impresses God. Christ tells us this week in Luke 19, that all God is looking for is simple faithfulness. Do we understand that 90% of Jesus’ earthly life was lived in relative obscurity? For 30 years, He lived out of the spotlight in a backwoods little hill-jack village. What was He doing? Taking care of His Mom and His little brothers in the absence of their Dad – essentially just supporting His family, and of course getting splinters and callouses there in the carpenter’s shop. And then at His baptism, far before His ministry ever got off the ground, what does the Father say? “This is my Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Here you have somebody that spent their entire life in obscurity, somebody that nobody else knew about, and yet somebody that was faithful behind closed doors. And the Heavenly Father looked at that and said “Now that is impressive right there. That is what I’m looking for.” And that is all that God is looking for in you and I as well. Get your Word on with us and get real. Be faithful!
