Every single religion in the world cries out for its adherents to conform. You take your outward man, and you conform to our programs and principles, you conform to our rituals, and you conform to our list of works to get to God. Biblical Christianity says no-no, where it begins is this. There is a great gulf between you and a Holy God, and there is nothing you could ever do to bridge that gulf. So, God wrapped Himself in flesh in the person of Jesus Christ, who then took His wrath absorbing perfect life to that cross in order that you and I who are imperfect might live. He did what you could never do – Jesus became your bridge to God. Never wander too far from the Gospel, or you just might find yourself in religion.
