Coming off the most difficult text in the New Testament, the writer of Hebrews now turns and comforts his audience, by inspiring them to look back to all that Christ has done, to look forward to the enormous promise of eternal rewards, and then encouraging a present response based on those remarkable realities. For the believer in Christ, while the WHERE question is settled regarding our eternity, the QUALITY of that experience is predicated upon the believer’s faithfulness. The New Testament is utterly unblushing in its promise of staggering rewards for the believer. Every day of every week of every year – we have the titanic opportunity to posture the landscape of our eternal experience.
