1 John 3:1-10

The fight that you and I are in as Christians, is not that we might destroy the works of the devil, for Jesus has already done so. The fight that you and I are in together, is to come to a greater understanding and appreciation of what John calls the completely foreign, utterly unsearchable white-hot love of God. That’s the fight we’re in. What is simply shocking about this love, is that it was extended to us while we were yet in our rebellion. John tells us this week, that the primary motivation for the believer to move forward in holiness, is a magnified appreciation of the remarkable love of God. While legalism seeks to earn something, holiness seeks to love SOMEONE; namely – Jesus Christ.
