1 John 2:1-11

If your young son is heading off to war, and he says to you as he’s ready to leave “Well I sure hope I don’t get shot very often.” You as a Father are going to say “No Son. That’s not the target. My desire is that you don’t get shot at all.” IT IS THE SAME WAY with our Heavenly Father and sin. Though we all stumble in many ways, though we have an Advocate with the Father in Jesus Christ the righteous when we do, it is God’s desire for you and me to set the target a whole lot higher. It is our Heavenly Father’s desire – that you and I don’t get shot at all. We learn in 1st John 2 this week, that John is writing that we may not sin. Get your Word on with us as we set the bar higher, not in order to earn any kind of a standing before God, but rather that we might flourish as men and women to the glory of God!
