Luke 21:1-4

Now when we’re reading the Bible, it sure seems like the Lord sets the bar pretty high for us doesn’t it? This week in Luke Chapter 21 we have another one of those staggering bars that appears just about impossible to clear. Now what we have to remember is, our God is not some begrudging task master interested in making demands, as much as He is a perfect loving Father interested in His children flourishing. We don’t have to measure up to have salvation – Jesus has finished that deal off for good; that’s already been done. But having saved us, God is not done with us – He’s just getting started. And part of bringing His children into all He has for us, is setting the bar pretty high, that we might just set our sights a little higher… For our benefit, to His glory.
