Now men of dignity in 1st century Palestine would never be caught running in public, that would be emblematic of a child.  Another thing you wouldn’t find a grown man doing was climbing a tree.  And yet here in Luke 19, we find a wealthy man running and climbing a tree in order to see Jesus.  Now Christ has told us “Unless you become like little children, you will not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.”  Though this man was despised in his community, salvation came to his house that day.  And it’s because he threw pride and position to the wind to get near Christ.  He made the beautiful discovery, that he was not the one chasing after Jesus, but it was in fact Christ who had been chasing him down.  Get your Word on with us as we pursue the one who has been pursuing us all along.
