The Apostle Paul goes after the false humility of hyper spiritual mysticism, and exposes a number of other devices that false teachers use to deceive the children of God.  Somewhere down the line, we in the American Church began to believe that the mysterious was more spiritual than the practical…  That seeing a vision is somehow more spiritual than visiting a person in a nursing home, or that hearing a voice or being enraptured in a trance is more spiritual than fixing a single mother’s car.  Somehow we’ve bought the lie that the more dark and mysterious and unknowable we can make something, the more spiritual it must be.
